Intel Core i9-10900K spotted on 3DMark reaching 5.3 GHz in ASUS ROG MAXIMUS XII APEX motherboard

 Not only has the successor to the ASUS ROG MAXIMUS XI APEX been spotted on 3DMark, but so has the Core i9-10900K once again. This time, however, the 10 core Comet Lake S chip has reached 5.3 GHz.

 

The Core i9-10900K has graced 3DMark before, but not at 5.3 GHz. Brought to our attention by @_rogame, the new is the first time that we have seen the 10 core Comet Lake S processor hitting such lofty clock speeds.

Manufactured on a 14 nm process, the Core i9-10900K also has a 3.7 GHz base clock and supports Intel Hyper-Threading. Turbo Boost Max 3.0 (TBM 3.0) and Thermal Velocity Boost (TVB) will make an appearance, too.

We should point out that the Core i9-10900K may only be capable of reaching 5.3 GHz on a single core. Additionally, it may potentially use TVB to reach this speed, in which case it could only maintain 5.3 GHz temporarily before dropping back to lower levels.

Previous rumours have suggested that the Core i9-10900K could cost US$562 upon release. Intel may have delayed the launch of Comet Lake-S until May or June 2020, too.

Separately, the 3DMark listing essentially confirms the existence of the ASUS ROG MAXIMUS XII APEX, likely an LGA 1200 socket motherboard. The benchmark states that the motherboard and processor support DDR4-4500 RAM, too. There is no word yet about the release of pricing of the ROG MAXIMUS XII APEX, though.
